Oz Geriatrics '06 & re-entry

Posted by Andrew on October 29, 2006

We're sitting at the LA airport right now waiting for our connecting flight to Seattle, super tired but satisfied. That's right folks... another PUSA trip down under is in the record books and as usual, we had a real fun time & fell in love w/Australia all over again. People of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth/Fremantle & Brisbane... you've have an amazing country down there- thanks for sharing it with us & showing us such a good time.

This became sort of a geriatric tour for us... I started this trip w/a really screwed-up lower back... i.e. so painful I didn't think I'd be able do anything on stage other than stand there & play. But... it got a little better every day, especially after a trip to a magical chiropractor north of Sydney after our first show. Managed some jumping/rocking in Melbourne, took it a little easier in Freo, and went full tilt in Brisbane. Then Jason got real sick the day we flew to Perth... he played the Fremantle gig w/a fever, etc... hence our playing a somewhat shorter set that night.

I gotta run... we're catching our flight in a few minutes... I'll try to think of some more interesting tidbits in the future... until next time... drive fast & take chances!

NEW VIDEO and FREE MUSIC

The boys are off to Australia today for their final tour in support of their latest album "Love Everybody" released in 2004 (get it here http://www.presidentsrock.lunarpages.com/store/mt_index.php). If you're down under we hope to see you. Either way, you're here now, so hopefully you've ad the chance to check out the new promotion/ video/ fundraising project we've been working on. Our good friends at Wexley School for Girls (which is nothing like a girls' school) have teamed up with The Presidents and Microsoft to make a video and all the items for the video are for sale and all the money raised through the sale will go to support MercyCorps. The video is for "Zero Friction", which also happens to be the new single in Australia. Check it out here, it's a fun and cool little project - www.projectzerofriction.com

And, in honor of all this, the song "Zero Friction" is available for free download at The President's My Space site - www.myspace.com/thepresidentsoftheunitedstatesofamerica - in fact there will be a new free download up on My Space every couple of weeks. Free songs will feature album tracks, demos, live tracks, etc.

NEW YEAR'S EVE IN AMSTERDAM

Thinking about New Year's Eve yet? It's not too early to make plans - to go to Amsterdam! The Presidents are performing at the best venue in the world - Amsterdam's Paradiso. BLOOGY JUMPED ALL OVER THE GARAGE THAT DAY

Hey…we made a video! Again!!! I cant believe it…another one for the archives…its was a fun day…a beautiful cool Seattle day and we got all cramped up in a garage with a bunch of boxes and old things and got all jiggy with the lack of movement of tons of extra stuff all over the place…the song is zero friction so the idea is that as we play we zap all the things in the garage and they disappear into a website that sells the stuff for us. easy peasy as I like to say…the mermaids were not there at the shoot unfortunately and we didn’t get to ask them all the usual mermaid questions like….how do you go poo? and what is the best place for fish and chip? and how do you feel about jet skis?...and do you ever crave a regular bed…not a water bed? and do you want me to get you a shirt? you know…all those questions you want to ask a mermaid…so that was too bad cause I have even more questions for mermaids that I have collected and I wanted to ask them that day but it was not to be…ok that’s it! I need to go have a sandwich now….bye bye

Various rambling thoughts

helllloooooo...well I am back home and have been for a spell and taking care of my wonderful kiddies and getting thier little ratty heads off to school every day and swimming lessons and such and the chill is on the pumpkins and I love fall in seattle! wow this is the most beautiful time here...crisp mornings and the promise of sun later in the day to warm your cheek as you kick the leaves on the way to the post office to mail little love notes to that far away girl that I love so much..waaaaaaaaaave..hey there seems like there is a song in there somewhere...hmmmmmm....and speaking of songs I have been shaking off the cobwebs and doing a little writing here and there...we need to get our new practice space all decked out and then its time to get a batch of ditties ready to record...I like the thing Beck is doing ith releasing songs one at a time and all that...I hope we can pull off some sort of alternative to the traditional album thing but we shall see...I might be adapting a couple of TFH tunes for the band and I really mean adapting...new chords and such but same groove...could be cool...!!! my daughter just got up and she is cuddling here in the cold morning...ok time to go make breakfast and lunches and get these little piglets off to thier learning center...bye..
